vibration
my 2002 blazer 4x4 has a nasty vibration. at about 55 miles an hour the truck vibrates threw the steering wheel. it will make the hands go numb. i do believe the vibration transfers threw the whole truck but mainly in the steering wheel. can it be the u-joints going bad or possibly tires? also when you go over bumps the front end wants to wander. could worn out control arm bushings cause that?

There are tons of things that can make your wheels vibrate: built up gunk (mud, brake dust, etc), unbalanced tires, missing balance weight... The wheels on my BMW vibrate from 55 to around 85mph because I have plugs in it and never got them balanced afterward. Not sure about a wandering front end, none of my vehicles have done that so I don't have experience with it. I would check control arm and tie rod ends.

When I had bad u joints it would only vib under power and when I let off the gas to coast it would almost stop vib.

When I first bought my 2000 4x4 LT Blazer in 2002 it had new tires on it (Goodyear). It had a vib at around 70. Took it back to the dealer and they said it needs a balance job, I said okay and had it done. Didn't slove the probelm. But I was retiring and moving out here to AZ, so I waited until I got here and took it up the another Chevy dealer and explain to them. They said (Again) sounds like a balance probelm. So I left the truck with them and the next day they call me (Also had the A/C compressor change out). That the front end was fine and everything else. So they have this special balancer that turns the wheel a quarter of an inch at a time (Very time consuming and it wasn't cheap) anyhow 3 out of the 4 tires could not be balance and the 4th not a true balance. Now these tires were brand new. Didn't want to spend a ton of money of new ones, so I just rode them out until they were ready for replacement and put a good set of Mich on (And 677.00 dollars later) Problem slove. Still have the Mich on and they are working fine, I take the truck in when the time is ready for a rotate and balance and its been 5 yrs and they still look good.

i'll rotate the tires and see if the vibration changes from front to back. two new(er) tires were put on the front after a blow out. this isn't my truck but a family members. ive already replaced ball joints twice, and the idler arm. swaybar end links. it never vibrated like this before so i suspect the tires. they swear up and down it's not.
