I am getting a TON of water underneath the carpet in my 4dr Jimmy. I noticed because it was puddling up underneath the rear seat on the drivers side. I pulled out the back seat and folded the carpet forward. The padding underneath the carpet is 100% saturated and there were puddles of water on the floorboard.

I wanted to take the carpet right out so that i can let it dry out, so i dont get mold under the carpet and rotted floorboards. Also i think it would be easier to track down the location of the leak with the carpet out.

My question is how do i get the torx screws out from the front seats to remove them. I used the proper size torx bit (T50) and it stripped out on the drivers side seat. Those things are really torqued in there...Does anyone here have any tips or tricks for getting these screws out?

Edit: I also suspect that the water is coming in at the bottom of the drives side rear door, possibly due to worn out weather stripping

 

I had to remove my seat today to replace a shift cable, and needed to spray it pb blaster, would not budge with a braker bar, i spayed from underneath, but now that yours is stripped looks like a drill and a e-z out type extractor is in order, still spray the bolt from the bottom and let it penatrate, i know there is not a ton of room with the seat all the way forward, there is always the chisel on the bolt method to get it to turn also.

update...the water definitely was coming in through the driver's side rear door. The weather strip seemed worn out and was loose on the steel, not quite gripping anymore.

I didnt feel like spending 50 bucks on new weatherstrip so i sealed it up with some silicone caulk. It seems to have stopped the leakage.
