weird AC thingy

Hello everyone ... used to be on another Blazer forum that went away. Really glad to be here. These forums where people share experiences and knowledge alongside problems and questions are regal uses of the Internet. Up front, I appreciate everyone and their time it takes to make this kind of thing possible.
To task ... the weird ac thingy ... 2001 LT S10 Blazer, 140,000 highway miles (purchased at 125,000 in immaculate shape ... 3rd grade teacher one owner ... I promise, we found proof in the tire jack case).
Turn on the AC, will chill passenger compartment to "hang a hog" shiver. On a long trip, about an hour into thngs, volume of air from the vents just goes away. AC is still working and you can hear the fan churning but there is no air movement from the vents. Shut everything down for a while (haven't been able to determine how long that "a while" is - we don't make routine long trips) and it's all up and running again.
I've investigated via net and am motivated to look into the "blends" mechanisms but not sure how they work on my truck.
Anyone been there and done that?
When I find the solution I will share.\
Thanks
Bob Martin

I do not believe that any S-series vehicle came with an HVAC air filter.
Do you have Automatic climate control or manual?

No automatic ... I'm manual. I'm still looking but I don't know if my blends are controlled electronically (which I suspect) or by vacuum (which I doubt). Something is wearing out at the one hour range, like a resistor or something. AC works wonderful in my hometown, only loses volume on long treks. Haven't been able to find anything like it on Net so far. No hepa. Thanks for your responses.

Does this only happen with the a/c or the heat as well? If its onlt the a/c, you might want to check your low and high side pressures. It sounds to me like your evaporator is freezing up. If the low-pressure cut-off switch does not shut the compressor off when pressure gets too low, the evaporator will freeze almost completely to ice which will prevent air from flowing through it and out the vents.
