Weird Engine noise

Weird Engine noise
I have a '97 Blazer with a 4.3L, intermittently I have a clicking or tapping noise at idle. As soon as I accelerate or increase the engine speed the noise goes away. Any ideas of what this could be? Also I am getting ready to replace my fuel pump and sending unit because of an inoperable fuel gauge, does anyone recommend anything but an OEM Delco Pump from a dealership? Thanks in advance!

RE: Weird Engine noise
tapping could be a hydrolic lifter 93s have solid roller lifters not sure on 97s as far as the fuel pump spend the extra money and get a napa premo it will be worth it in the long run good luck..

RE: Weird Engine noise
You might have to have the valve lash checked, some years of Blazer needed to have valves set if they lost there factory setting, others were not able to be adjusted... the 96+ 4.3 have hydraulic roller lifters. It is also possible that a lifter is getting weak at idle and loosing oil presssure inside...

RE: Weird Engine noise
Thanks for the help, I'll have to look into those. As far as the oil pressure is concerned, I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but the oil pressure after the vehicle is warm is still above 30 psi, which I beleive is not typical of these engines especially having 137K miles on it.
