Weird engine noise

Hi, it's my first time on this website and I need a couple of questions answered from you guys.
1. Recently my blazer has been making an odd grinding noise while the engine is being revved. It doesn't do it at idle, only when put my foot on the gas and it stops after 2 seconds.
2. There is a strange noise coming from the drivers side engine bay that sort of sounds like something is getting scrapped. It only happens at idle and will randomly start and stop.
The truck runs fine too which I find odd.
Thanks sooooo much to anyone who responds, you're helping me out big time.

Welcome to the forum!
Open the hood, and start the engine. Transmission in drive, firm pressure with left foot on the brake. Bring rpm up ~1200 to 1500 with the right foot, and watch the engine. If it lifts up, the left motor mount is broken allowing the engine cooling fan to contact the upper fan shroud. If the mount is deteriorated enough, it might be allowing the engine to set lower at idle, causing the cooling fan to contact the lower fan shroud.

Thanks for the quick reply, I just went out to do what you suggested and that seems like it's the problem. How much do you think it would cost to repair? Is it safe to drive still? Is there any way I could see the broken mount to be 100% sure that's the problem?
Thanks
Thanks

It really needs to be done ASAP as it can cause other damage. The mount is "neatly tucked out of the way", so you really can't see it very well to do a visual inspection. If the engine lifts up more than a half inch or so, that's the problem. Labor time to replace it is 1.5 hours, but it takes a real magician to get it done in that time
Not a fun job at all. 2WD is "a little" easier to replace, but not much. I would suggest replacing it with an Energy Suspension "polyurethane" mount, (~$35 on Amazon/Ebay). Part numbers are different for 2WD & 4WD. Aftermarket replacement rubber mounts are pretty much junk, and they don't last. Due to the labor cost, it's well worth the extra few bucks for a good mount.
