Default What is the "C" on the distributor cap and where does the plug wire go?

Hey guys,

I'm hoping you can help me answer this relatively easy question. I am in the midst of performing a tune up. I just got finished replacing the distributor cap and rotor. I was rushing to beat the rain and in my haste I did not take note of the location of the plug wire that goes in the "C" port. I got all of the other wires connected yet I can't seem to locate this one. I feel foolish even asking this, but where does this wire originate so I can trace it? It is probably worth noting I am reusing the old wires. I checked the resistance and they all are fine. Why replace them if they are still working right? Anyway, I even crawled under the car thinking the end dropped and was hanging out of eye sight but I didn't see anything. Any help would be most appreciated!

normally the C stands for Coil... as in the shortest plug wire to the Ignition coil, which is located close to the distributor...

hope this helps

If I understand this correctly it is basically linking this:

to this (the port on the lower right)

I have been working on cars my whole life and consider myself rather knowledgeable. This is my first go at distributor cap and rotor replacement. As I explained, I was under tight time constraints to beat the weather so labeling the wires slipped my mind.

So, now that that's out of the way. Does someone else have the answer to my question?

Don't know if different years have the coil located in different places but on mine the coil is on top of the pass side valve cover.
