What is this thing and what does it do and connect to?
story: got in a front end accident, trying to fix myself
anyways, i need to remove the radiator and the support for it, and then i found this thing beneath the radiator, and there was a hose connected to it, which the fan chopped up cause when the car hit, it pushed it back into the fan i guess
i can't find where the hose connects to, and have no idea what it is, can anyone help me identify it?

That is your AIR pump (AIR == air injection reaction). It is an emissions device that improves the efficiency of the catalytic converter by pumping fresh air into the exhaust for better reaction rates. You should be able to pick up a new inlet hose at your dealer and it shouldn't be too expensive. There has been a TSB (technical service bulletin) that states to replace this hose with a longer unit that will resist water intrusion better. It should have a clip that snaps into a hole on the lower fan shroud.
It just went up to around the centerline of the radiator and 90* bend then another 4" of hose and a slash cut on the end. Atleast this is what the one on my old Bravada was like.
You could just grab a 3/4" 90* hose barb fitting, some more 3/4" hose and some clamps and call it a day (I think its 3/4"...). It is just the intake hose for the pump.
