What would be considered a "tune up" these days.
Think i have had a misfire that tripped the service engine light. I figured I would do and entire "tune up". I'm at around 130,000 miles with no real issues so far. Anyone have a list of the most common practices ie, plugs, oil, etc.? Sorry for the noob question. Thanks for your time.
Depends on the service life of the vehicle, but I would also look at more than just a tune up. Has the other fluids been changed? Brake fluid, power steering, front and rear diffs, coolant, belt, hoses...etc.
Thanks km346. Not in the two years I've had it Burned...I've only replaced the belt, changed the oil last year...replaced a few minor parts and engine components. Rear brakes. I have the tools and the factory manuals...but I always run shorton time. Thanks for the replies.
When you say you tripped the SEL, what exactly did you get? That would be helpful. I like KM346 list but you might add O2 sensors to the list, if it hasn't been changed recently. Also I would add to the list AC Delco or Delphi for the plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, etc.
Well it wasn't a misfire. P0147. O2 sensor after the cat. The exhaust is crap. I was meaning to replace it all. Guess now is a good time. Thanks for all the replies though. I will aim to do a tune up this fall.
