Default What's stock battery specs ?

1998 blazer 4x4 LS 4.3

What are the specs for a stock battery? I thought it was a group 75 minimum 525 cold cranking amps. Is this correct?

Costco has a group 75 battery, I think they said it is 650 cold cranking amps. Which i think is fine, but the Costco guy on the phone said the computer system says it's supposed to be a minimum 690 cold cranking amps. The price is $75 and it sounds like a really good deal to me compared to all the auto parts stores around for a battery same group same cranking amps.

Sounds like a great deal. Go for it. That's plenty more than stock.

According to my 1999 Blazer sales literature: Standard battery 525 CCA, HD 690 CCA.

Wish I had thought of that! I do have the window sticker and purchase papers filed away. Oh well, already bought the battery this morning.

Not sure which trim level gets the heavy duty battery. I have the middle trim level, NOT the top level. I always get the LS and the LT confused mixed up.

I don't have any extra amplifiers nor have subwoofers, no big off-road lights. I do have a trailer hitch ball on the bumper for small trailer. No snow plow no AC converter (120 volt AC Gizmo).

BTW, bought the Costco battery. Interstate group 75, 650 cold cranking amps. In my opinion it is a very good buy for the money - $75 plus there's a $10 core Plus some kind of New York State $5 disposal fee for batteries

I should have added this but forgot: The 690 CCA battery is listed in 1999 as RPO UA1

Option V10 the Cold Climate Package includes the UA1 option.
