i do agree with you guys that O'reilleys is a bit steep, but i only have two parts stores within 20miles of me so my parts selection is very limited. oh i do have a chevy dealer in town, but their prices are even worse than O'reilleys.

hkellogg- im going to shop around a bit more, but i might have to take you up on your offer my goal is to get this done within a few weeks as ill be taking about a 700mi trip soon.

Check out .net for the pic to show the price difference.

Yep. the 2wd and the 4x4 both use the bearing hub assembly. I thought it was stupid when I had my 98. But it's the same as what is on my 95 4x4. The 98 was 2wd. And make sure you torque it to the correct specs. From what I've read, these fail more frequently if they aren't torqued correctly. The one I replaced on the 98 lasted until I got rid of it. I'm going to be replacing the driver side on the 95 in two weeks. It's got some give. In Houston, at Autozone (the cheapest) I got mine new for $178. I'm getting a used one for $13. Sure its a crap shoot. But I figure if I get it used and it goes bad in a year I can replace it again.

And if you need to know the nut on the axel is a 36 mm socket you can pick up at autozone for $19.95.

Duh, nevermind that last sentence. He has 2wd.

From what i'm gathering for front wheel bearings....inner and outer. Inner part # is 457196 List price is $29.25 Outer bearing is part #14066918 Lists for $39.71. That's for GM bearings too. Both Race and Cone and you'll have to x2 each. We sell Timken here and they are very very good quality.

That's for bearings. As has been stated, he is going to need the full bearing hub assembly.
