wont start on cold days
Hi everyone, first post, and thanks in advance for your help.
On cold days my 99 Blazer will crank but not turn over. Occasionally it will sputter for a quick second. Usually when this happens cycling the key 5 to 20 times will eventually get it to start.
Today when I cranked it and it wouldn't start I had a fuel pressure gauge on the service port under the hood. I had 60psi at the time it wouldn't turn over. I had 12.2 V on the battery at this time as well. Eventually after cycling the key I got it running and let it run for 10min to warm up. Battery voltage was 13.2 when turned off. Fuel pressure held at 60psi for over 10 minutes after turning off the blazer.
Have I successfully ruled out the fuel delivery system as a culprit? Do I still need to do a fuel pump maximum output pressure and leak down test at the filter as described by captain if the pressure reading at the service port and leadkdown tests were successful?
Thanks everyone!
Bill

to me, the battery sounds low, i could be wrong but it cant hurt to get tested. when i was having the same issue my mechanic friend suggested i go get the battery tested. i didnt think it was the issue but i said what hell its free to test. turns out it hardly had any cca's (cold cranking amps). worst case if its fine you can rule one more thing out.
60psi key ON, engine OFF, at the service port is the bare minimum. Without checking it at the filter, you have no idea if that's regulated pressure, or maximum fuel pump output pressure. 60psi regulated is not a problem, but if that's all the pump can build, it's a big problem. You need to check pressure and leakdown at both places to accurately diagnose fuel delivery. https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...eakdown-88305/
I also suggest double checking your battery connections to make sure the terminal bolts are clean and very securely tightened down.
My temp gauge works but doesn't make it to vertical position ever.
