hey i got it running, i ended up just gettin the pump cause the plastic tank was made different were the filler neck and vent hose connects, the plastic tank pump was shorter not as tall as my original steel tank pump. i had my doubts the pump would work but it ended up going right in. however the D**N guage is being stupid and jumps around like a rpm gauge. when its in park it jumps around but in drive it stays still but dosent read correctly

The pump did compress normally when you put it in right?

About the fuel gauge, no telling if it worked properly in the old truck. One of the many issues with reusing old stuff.

I didn't think the pump would work at all. I am impressed!! Prob. wont read right. The floater may be different due to the length? IDK But Congrats on getting her running!!!!!!!!!

The dancing fuel gauge is indicative of a bad connection to your fuel pump. replace the wiring harness to the pump and everything may work fine again.

This may very well be the reason for your issues when you still had the old pump in. There are several things that can cause a perfectly good fuel pump to stop working correctly. Which is why you should always run through some tests first before just throwing very expensive parts into a vehicle.

A $20 fuel pump relay or an $8 wiring harness could very well have solved your problems.

Could also be the wrong pump, I was told pumps from a plastic tank would not work in metal tanks, or visa versa. I agree with myself and everyone else that had said to test the pump first. But good luck again.

what is the reason your selling it. Just because you had a few problems. Remember its almost 12 years old. All cars have problems
