I want to know what is the best adhesive for weatherstrip around both doors and how and where to apply it and what should be used to remove the old adhesive plz. The first adhesive was tape, not sure if that was factory original or not. I removed all residue on the car and weatherstrip..let it dry in direct sunlight and then applied Permatex 81158 Black Silicone Adhesive and followed the instructions..even let it cure for 96 hrs...and it did not adhere at all. After 4 days the weatherstrip just peeled right off. Thanks for any help with this. Hv a gr8 day.

The only thing I'd add to Les' advice is to be sure to thoroughly clean the area with alcohol and a clean shop towel to remove any oils or residues before applying the adhesive.

Yes be sure to clean all surfaces good . And sometimes it’s easier to apply the gorilla snot to the rubber weatherstrip first then a little bit to the body and as soon as it gets a little sticky push it into the spot it fits in. The original is yellow in color and stringy and hard to remove if you over apply it and get it where you don’t want it, but is sticks ! Work fast because it dries quick . It comes in black but I have not used it so not sure if it works as well as the original yellow gorilla snot .

Apply it to the channel of the weather stripping, and a thin film of it to the vehicle body on the top of the ridge where the weather stripping clips onto. I find that using a disposable wood or plastic spatula (think popsicle stick) to smooth it into the groove in the weather stripping helps to get best adhesion. You'll definitely want to be wearing disposable gloves too.

Like Lexblaze said, be careful to not let it touch anywhere else because it's very difficult to remove.
