I want to give something to the Blazer/Jimmy guys well I'm here and the guys/girls that are getting a jimmy in the future
Note-the steps from 98-05 are the same
The Vehicle is a 2003 Jimmy SLS with RDS radio that these pictures are from
I Decided to take it upon my self and make a GOOD one. The ones I've been seeing aren't very good. I will be updating my Topic as I get the info.
Tools
1- 1/4 Driver, Ratchet or hand driver
2- 1 short 7mm shallow socket, Deep socket
3- panel popper
This is what the Radio bezel looks like

This picture is not from my camera, but shows the Bezel the best
Now your going to see this panel(four 7 mm bolts) one 7mm bolt is in each of those holes

Mind my shoe please
These are better pics
These two pictures are the Drivers left side and right side

Now that those are all taken out of the panel pull with a little tug, should just come down
There will be two 7mm bolts in these holes that need to be taken out

Don't forget to get this one out

Now we can start to remove the radio Bezel
Start with your hand here(if you can't get it use the panel popper) then move along. Just a little pull and the clips come out till you get to the radio

Now some of these plugs are really pain that blue one sure is
These will be the first ones you see that are on the back of these

These next 3 are from these If you don't have 4x4 on your truck you won't have this Blue plug

It goes Blue, white, black when you remove the Bezel
Now those are gone you can remove the Bezel
Next is the radio it self

remove these 7mm bolts

After that the radio should just slid out, you will see a space about this size depending on the factory radio your have
DO NOT PLAY WITH THAT YELLOW WIRE AT ALL OR A BOOM MIGHT HAPPEN

This is the factory radio harness and antenna

Now allot of people say you don't need a interface but some say you do, on Sat I'm putting in my clarion finally and can say what you need 100%
But I've been told the Metra # are
1- wiring harness- 70-2003
2- mounting kit-Double Din/Din kit is 99-2003
3- antenna adapter- 40-GM10
I'm working on getting the Pictures up right now, still can't figure it out but if you click on the link it should work
I will be updating the info and pics so its 100% true info

Looks Great!! There is a different procedure on removing the radio for 95-97, and I will take pics of pulling my radio out again, and send you the links. then you can add them into your how-to

I'll get that cleaned up sometime today. I'm going to link to the auto thumbnails from photobucket and make them click through for the full res images, this will cut down on the bandwidth requirement, but still allow everyone to see an image and decide if they need to see the full shot.
Once this has more or less finalized for the intended applications and the first post has been updated to reflect this, I'll copy out the first post and drop it into the DIY section, linking back to this thread for further discussion.

dang those pictures look familiar :P Good writeup. It also helps to put the truck in 1st gear so you get the shifter out of the way.

Ya know this makes me wonder. Since the newer blazers have a double din openingversus the older 1.5 dinopeningis it possible to use a newer bezel and use a double din deck (or a single din and a dvd player)? I think there is enough space (and if not i can get creative with a dremel and some steel for re-inforcement) so that might be something to try. Plus i gotta get a whole new one anyway as mine cracked a little bit right above the 4x4 switch when my buddy manhandled it out. Anyone know for sure if this can be done?

it will take some modification but it can be done. I will be posting up some info on that at a later time.

oh, and btw, you dont need an interface. if you had another harness that went into that black plug, then yes you do. The standard 70-2003 harness will work just fine, and retain the RAP.
