Anybody? Axle nut torque for a 97 4x4? Is it 103? 130? 174? 180? I've seen all but can someone confirm this for me? Thanks.

For a '97, if your ABS sensor is integral to the hub, 103ftlbs. If it is part of the backing plate, 180ftlbs.

I have never seen 130ftlbs in any of the FSM's I have ever read through for various years, nor would I trust the Haynes manuals...

Thanks Kyle, My abs sensor is on the dust shield, so I guess 180 it is.

Did a hub last week on my 99. One trick for people without air tools.. Loosen the axle nut before removing the front wheel. Spray it with some penetrate, and I had to stand on the breaker bar to get it to loosen. It will save you a lot of aggravation when removing the axle nut.

This is a job any DIY can do. No specialty tools needed. Took me 2 hours. Great instructions on this thread.

I'm trying to replace my wheel speed sensor and front shocks but to get to the wheel speed sensor I have to take off some of the parts you did in this DIY demo. The original poster said something about how he had to turn the wheel all the way one way to get access to the top brake caliper bracket bolt. I did that and still did not get adequate access. Any ideas? I can't get a socket completely around it without hitting the end of the A-arm thing.

You can't get a socket on it. Use an open end wrench and hit it with a BFH (Big hammer), it'll let loose.
