Too late but, yes, BFH and an 18mm. I could get a socket with an extension on mine though with the wheel turned just a bit.

Good info in this thread. As someone who will be tackling this process in a few weeks, this looks really easy... God I hope it is, at least!

Not too bad. Mine came off easier than it went back on though. That was unexpected.

Have any of you guys that have used the dearbornaxle bearings had any issues so far? I'm interested in buying them since they're so affordable, but if they fall apart quick or something, I'd rather just spend a little more money and get a better set.

I just talked to warthogdriver and it seems he's about ready to have to replace one of them already, so I'm a bit concerned, is why I'm asking.

ok i know about greasing the back of the breaks and using the anti cease but do I need to grease the bearings at all? Or is it just a bolt up assembly.

The bearing is pressed into the Hub. It's a sealed bearing so requires no maintenance.

Do not use an open end, {That's the 'Best Practices' rule for any first turn situation; open end is always the resort before vise grips} use a box end, six point is best but those are hardened bolts so a snug 12 pt will work fine. Best Practices means rules to go by to avoid grief.

It's the one that fits tight.... though I get it. IIRC, the ones usually left out of sets are 15 and 18.

BFH is a subjective term. Framing hammer is almost always the perfect size.

And yes.. that's one of those things you'll not usually see on videos of professionals doing a job but it works fine.
