Hm, I fixed the problem myself with a drill and a zip tie. lol
Just drilled a hole in what was left of the broken plastic piece that holds onto the metal piece then zip tied it to the metal piece.
Just make sure to leave it slack based on the distance it must travel when the motor pulls it. That motor is tough and broke the first zip tie I installed. lol

I found this post last week and has found the website about a year ago, some folks out there have some nice blazers I must say, mine is just the factory lt trim edition 4x4, i am a family man. I have found some good info though and I thought I should mention the rear hatch/window problem, I saw the link for Rock Auto website and used the part number to check with a few local auto parts stores, and all but one said they could order it, and i felt like telling them i could do that, but the good folks at the local Napa Auto parts got them for me the next day from their local warehouse, I was kind of impatient and didnt want to wait a week or so for the replacement parts and thought I would share in case anybody else didnt want to wait, just check your local Napa if you have one.

I have a 2002 chevy blazer and when I push the window release button I can hear the motor running but the window won't open. How do I open the back tailgate to get to the actuator....? Thanks so much for your help....I've been living with this problem for over a year and want to be able to use my back hatch!

Read my original post...assuming your vehicle has the same design as ours there is a carpet insert on the interior panel of the tailgate. Along the top of that carpet, but hidden behind it, there is an access hole in the panel that aligns with the manual release.
Using a slim tool you should be able to move the release lever to the side and disengage the latch.
Once the latch is released you can drop the tailgate and fully remove the interior panel to complete the repair.

Hello,
I have a 2002 Blazer, with an End Gate not the Lift Gate, and the info on this site helped me fix my window. I'd like to add my own experience and some pictures.
I found the access hole in the panel and could move the actuator but the window would not pop open. Worlds post #34 mentioned something about fishing out the metal piece that attaches to the blue clip.
So, facing the end gate from inside the truck, looking through the access hole, the metal piece had rotated clock-wise out of view. I used a piece of wire to fish out the metal piece that had fallen or rotated below view of the access hole. With the metal piece rotated counter-clock-wise, up into position, I then was able to use a screw driver to push it counter-clock-wise and pop the window.
Is this what arthroscopic surgury is like?
Anyways, with the window open and end gate trim panel removed, I was able to remove and replace the blue clip with out removing the access panel. The NAPA Rear Window Actuator Repair Kit #735-5970 contains 2 clips. I figured if I broke one trying to replace it the lazy way through the access hole, I would at least have a spare to use to replace the right way.
Here's a link to a video of the repaired actuator in action.

With the trim panel removed, you can see the broken blue clip and the metal arm rotated up into its normal position.
Also, note the bar that the metal arm is resting against, that is what the actuator and metal arm hit to open the window. I think that is what the guys with the large allen wrenches are hitting and getting the window to open.

This is what you can see through the access hole in the trim panel when trying to fish out the metal lever.

With the metal arm held up with a piece of wire I could now insert a screwdriver to the right of the metal arm. Pushing the handle of the screwdriver to the right pops the glass.

I also took the black panel off the door as well. Made it easier to work with.
Funny thing, I had the same trouble with the metal part falling down and not realizing it. Not to mention I didn't have the slightest idea what it looked like behind that carpet at all so I sat there for an hour or more sweating my *** off moving a screwdriver every which way, in, out, up and down. If it were a woman it would have been extremely satisfied after all that maneuvering.

You can do it without replacing the blue retainer from the actuator by simply drilling a small hole in the broken piece and, using stiff wire, wire it to the the loose metal piece that rotates. No cost to you except some baling wire that every Blazer owner should have anyway, right?
