Many of the pictures in this thread are hosted on Photobucket.com. If you cannot view images on that host, then you will have to request support from your ISP as it is a very popular site for image hosting. If you are browsing the forum from your work and it has filtered photobucket.com, you are pretty much sol.

You SAVED me!! Just took a few cuts on my hands from breaking a clothes hanger and a couple Hail Marys to actually get the lever snagged by said clothes hanger. Part's on its way from Dallas & I should have this solved by Noon tomorrow and $8 invested.

Thank you!!

Our first post. I just found the forum today on a google search on how to open our back hatch. It's been over a year since we opened it.

We had the same problem not realizing the metal part had fallen down when trying to go in the little access hole. Husband bent one of my crochet hooks and went in by the hump. He tried to use the allen key through the access hole but the short side had to be about 2" and couldn't rotate it.

Got the plastic panel off without breaking any of the clips using what we learned in this thread. I read every post. Thanks to all who posted.
Picking up the Rear Window Actuator Repair Kit Part # 935-5970 at NAPA on way home from work tomorrow, price $5.99.

Default Video help to replace actuator

I found this vid here: How To Install Replace Rear Hatch Lock Actuator Chevy Blazer GMC Jimmy 4 Door 95-05 1AAuto.com - YouTube
it was very helpful.

One problem remains for me. The pushbutton to open the rear window only will not work. With rear panel removed, I see nothing moving when I push the button. Is this a separate actuator or am I missing something really simple?

Default I did this....

Thanks so much for this. I used the same link ordered the retainer on Friday, received the part today and it worked no problem.

Using the same link I only purchased 1 package (it came with 2 retainers) and after shipping it only cost $6.38. So even cheaper for me

F.Y.I. - I did this on my 2000 ZR2 Blazer. Even though the link posted here is for a 96 the retainer span many years and models. Thanks Again!!!!!!!!

Hi I'm new to this forum and may have overlooked the answer but I'm trying to replace the actuator on the hatch for a 2003 and I have gained access to the emergency release on the tailgate itself and have tried countless times to get it to release so I can lift the glass/drop the tailgate but it's not working the fuse has been replaced so I'm not sure why it won't work I can hear it trying but just won't budge

I had to pull back the plastic on the inside of the gate. (top center where the lock mechanism is) Then take a wrench to the bolts on the glass. There are two bolts and they hold the outer handle of the glass in place.
