Does anyone know how I can do the quad beam mod along with the drl disable? I looked at other threads but cant find a simple answer. I basically want full control over the headlights with the 4 lights on with high beams. I did the bent 86 pin on the relay to disable drls and the resistor to disable ahl but now the drls are back on after doing the quad light mod.

I'd be intrigued to know what you find out. I have the same situation on my 04... Resistor in place of the sensor in the dash and grounded out the wire on the driver's headlight, and my lights still automatically on automatically, in the middle of the day... I just want my headlights to come on when I turn them on only!

Thats what I did and I have the same problem. I saw a thread on putting a switch to turn the grounded wire on and off but I am not a wiring expert at all. Im hoping for simpler directions.

Yeah I'm almost to the point of just rewiring the headlights with a some stand alone relay harnesses and triggering them off the dash switch for FULL manual control, but that would be pretty involved lol

Can't find any info on how to keep my lowbeams on.....on a ZR2 (2002). Everything I read is "but not on a ZR2" or "ZR2's are different". I have done the AHL disable; that works fine. But would also like my LB to stay on with my HB. My LB are so low it's retarded; makes hwy driving difficult. Any help/direction, please?

I don't see why it would be any different on a ZR2. The headlight wiring isn't what makes a ZR2 different from a non ZR2 :P

For the purpose of this section, discussions taking place in these threads should pertain to the content of the threads in terms of correcting mistakes or misconceptions as well as adding to the article(s) as necessary. An example of adding to this article would be requesting a method for quad beam setups on those trucks that are equipped with low beam DRL as this article pertains only to those vehicles originally wired for high beam in series DRL.

I hope that clears things up in regards to threads in this section.

I see you posted in another thread on your search for more light output so I'll try to see what I can dig up for you and post there.

At the time I originally posted this info (10+ years ago), all of my references showed ZR2 trucks as using the low beam as DRL as opposed to the more common high beam bulbs in series. It now seems that GM sent out some ZR2's with the series HB configuration. It sounds like it would make the most sense to dispense with the ZR2/non-ZR2 and just state 'series high beam DRL' as to what the information in this tutorial pertains to and not 'low beam DRL' until such time as we figure that one out.

Although, after a very quick look at the schematics I snagged from Mitchell's OnDemand over 10 years ago, it would seem as though it may be possible to tap into the yellow wire at either low beam bulb (not the yellow with black tracer!) and ground it out for quad beam mod on the low beam DRL trucks. This will likely result in your low beam bulbs being on all the time so something more involved would need to happen to disable DRL functionality. At least this is a direction for someone with a low beam DRL truck to try out and report back on. If that works out as expected, then we can amend this tutorial to include that information.
