I didn't have the option, but I still probably wouldn't have. I already had enough trouble getting the 1/2" bolts through to the interior without having another tiny hole to find. I reinforced my install by threading the bolts through a single piece of thick steel on the interior.

I found a carrier for $70 not sure of condition. Is this a good deal?

No offense, but the rack is kinda useless without the mounting brackets and latch plate.

It is a little steep, but I'd pay it if there weren't cheaper options in my area.

don't you guys have any pick 'n pulls around you? I got the rack, and striker plate for $19, out the door. I spent almost as much on the set of torx wrenches to get it off with!

And don't buy the rack without the plate. Like el beautor said, it's pretty useless that way. You probably aren't ever going to get the plate by itself.

Actually if you check out his seller thread in the for sale section his rack is custom modified. Kind of a cool idea actually. I may end up borrowing this idea to modify mine to sit a bit lower. But you'll still need to find the mounting brackets and latch plate if you're installing a tire carrier on a vehicle that doesn't have one.
