Default 10" sub in center console area?

Is it possible to put a 10" sub in the space between the seats on a 92 s10 blazer? I've got 2 kenwood 10" subs and a kenwood amp and I'm gonna make a new center console anyways so could I get a 10" in the console? maybe downfire? place it near the back of the seats where it's wider and take the plastic boots off the seat belts to allow them to flex out of the way?

idk about doing it in a 92 but i know there is no chance of fitting a 10 in the newer trucks. we only have like 7 inches between seats.

a lot of fullsize guys replace the middle jump seat with a down firing sub box and really like the sound they get from it. some even go as far as a ported enclosure firing the port at the firewall and love the results from it.

good luck to you if you do it

It depends on your fabrication and installation skills IMHO. I've seen some outrageous things done with fiberglass. Properly thought out, designed and executed you can put anything you want there. Whether or not it's practical or optimal for performance when it's completed is another story altogether tho. If you have some skills working with fiberglass and designing things like that then I say go for it, otherwise you'll likely be better off going with a traditional enclosure in the rear.

have the sub facing the rear of the vehicle and it will fit fine.

it will be in front of the middle rear passenger

this way you could pretty much fit a 12 or 15 in there with a small magnet

you might also try a shallow mount

I am looking at a clarion 10" which has 5.5" or so for the mounting depth. I think the center console is that wide.

I would shoot for a fiberglass form fitting box over the rear passenger wheel hump. nothing ever goes there and it's just un-used space.

that's where I plan to put a sub.

if you shoot for a 6 or 8 inch sub, that would also help

i stand corrected. i was thinking strictly down firing for the safety issue of puncturing the sub or something. side firing sure if its not super deep. one track mind in that situation. oops. make whatever you want fit and play with it from there. good luck

ok, so the subs and amp i have are cheap and i just want them in the truck already so im getting a premade box for both subs to toss in the back, now how would i mount the box w/o drilling? and where is a good place to hide the amp? i was thinking center console, any other ideas?

if your truck comes with the tie downs in the back there are two t50 bolts that hold them in. you can unbolt them and then bolt threw the box into that.

the amp could fit under a seat depending on the size of it and how hot it would get under there.

my truck has 1 tiedown lol, which i think is odd, shouldn't it have 2? my 98 had 4. but i dont think the amp will fit under a seat...its a 92 and the seats are low as hell like the camaros

damn. my 2 door 2004 had 2 tie downs. i took them out to bolt down my false floor.

i don't know what to tell you other than buy some L brackets, bolt them to the box and then to the rear seat bolts
