Default 1990 Blazer Stereo Install Help

Hey guys, I'm trying to install a stereo into my 1990 full size blazer and I cant get the installation kit to work properly. The one I bought is pretty much just the outer filler for the opening on the dash, but I found one that looks like this online: http://www.smart-shop.com/car--mobil...rom-metra.html, with the piece on the bottom.

My problem is that I dont know if the previous owner (they ripped the stereo out when i bought it) took some factory bracing for the stereo with it. I cant find anywhere to mount the new stereo so it will actually stay in there, which is why i think there should be a piece underneath to hold it up, but in my dash there is nothing. So I guess what im asking is if anyone knows if there is supposed to be a factory piece in there to help hold the stereo or if the bracket up there is actually the right one. Any pictures or info would be great.
