Default 2002 Jimmy factory Headunit replacment info need'ed

OKay okay I know,I'm opening up my own shop In november like my other post said, So this is very sad for me to make this but I've never worked on a newer jimmy before(one of a few vehicles).Even when I was at BB I didn't see one come in.I was under the understanding that all 2000+ GM cars were on the data bus 2 system and you had to install a interface module to keep the RAP feat and some safety feats.Or you could just tap into the access wire to give 12v switched and loose the chimes and some other things IE seatbelt guy.Have done more thena dozen J-bodys and can't see takeing someone for that GMRC-01 module $130.

But I know those are safety things whitch still need to be installed,So for my own customers I won't do anything like that.I had the j-bdoy guys sign a waver saying you asked for me to do this.

I was reading this and alot of the info is wrong,I think

He says they don't make a Double Din mounting Kit,My 2006 Metra catalogue(haven't gotten the 07 one yet) says

1,#99-2003 Double Din mounting kit

He also says you don't need a interface module and like alot of people on here have said that,But if you want to keep the RAP feat you need it.So I don't know. Its either these I think

2,#70-2003-GMRC-01 Wire harness'es

Now for the Antenna adapter, I think its this but other people say other things

#40-GM10

When I get all thats 100% correct Im going to make another Topic(sticky) and show how to Install a DD HU in are trucks and what you need to use with really nice detailed pics.

Sorry about the bad spelling/grammer but Im in a rush

Yes I do have all my MECP papers just haven't worked on one and don't care to call tech support and get the run around

I knew that I had already answered this exact same post. I am a certified master level MECP installer, with my own shop. I was telling you the truth in this post.

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~94601~PN~1

DD kit is 99-203, antenna adaptor is 40-GM10. the wiring harness is 70-2--3. i believe it does have switched power in the harness. If you want to keep radio on until door opened, you will need to wire up 2 relays as follows - http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#drto

You are the same guy[sm=hiya.gif]

The reason I posted on here is because no-onehad replyed to what I had said back and I wanted to get everything I need'ed today from my suppliers as they don't take orders after 3pm.Plus this is a Blazer Forum

So to my question I asked over there,There isit a module yet on the market that lets me have my radio stay on and have me be able to use mywindows at the same time.

Unless I wire up a relay pack to do everything I want it to,Is this correct??

it really just depends on the car. I have seen some 02 jimmys with the standard 70-1858 harness. best bet would be to pull out the radio and see what connector you hvae on the back of the radio. you windows will still work, and probably your radio will still. just depends on the harness that you have.

It depends... if your chime comes through the speakers, then you'll need that extra stuff... if it comes from somewhere in the dash, then you don't need any of that, and can use the basic harness...

My radio stays on until I open the door, and my windowswork 24/7! (okay, so I cheat, and have manual windows...)

As far as I know (hillbilly will probably be able to correct me) the regular harness works perfectly fine for RAP, as long as you don't have the RDS setup (Radio Door Sentry) which makes the chimes and various other truck beeps come through the drivers front speaker... If your chime from your headlights and such comes from somewhere under the dash, the regular harness should work perfectly fine for you...

If you have the RDS setup, you'll need a chime module so you still get the various beeps and dings that the truck will make...
