Default Alpine Audio

Hey everyone,
I'm looking to completely redo the sound system in my 2001 2 door blazer. I also want to put 2 subs in the back. I would like to keep all of the speakers alpine however for a new stereo unit, a head unit, and an amp ill probably buy something cheaper.

First, I want to put 2 Alpine Type-R 12 inch subs in a box in the back. What else do i need to get? i know i need an amp, what kind? Also, would i need a new head unit? How would i pull power off the battery and where would i put the fuse? And What ohms?

Second, if i were to replace the factory six speakers, would i have to amp those in order to get decent performance out of them? would i want to run new wires or are the existing ones fine?

Lastly, any suggestions on when and where to buy everything?

Thanks a ton everyone!!!

haha thats a lot of questions in one! Its all about budget and personal preferance with audio though. if your looking for a place to buy i can recomend crutchfield.com for expertise as well as onlinecarstereo.com for extremely low prices. If its crazy loud bass your going for the two alpines will definately do the job. If you replace the HU you should be fine to power your speakers with the outs it has, and then power your subs with a single amp at 2 ohms. Ive currently got an Alpine m1000 to power a single type r at 4 ohms, and then if i eventualy add an aditional type r, ill wire them for a 2 ohm load and allow 500 watts rms to each sub . something along these lines would probably be your best bet. hope i helped

well to answer the 6 speakers question... you should be fine with just putting them in and getting good quality. i used to have a cavalier and i switch the stock 6x9's out with type s 6x9's and they sounded a hell of alot better. so as for getting an amp for those 6 speakers dont worry about that unless you want to add a couple hundred... if you do get the amp hooked up to them, id get a little thicker wire, otherwise just use the stock wire... (even though it seems like they really short you on how thin of wire they put in these damn vehicles to hook up speakers. does anyone else agree?)

crutchfield is overpriced IMO. Go to http://www.woofersetc.com/ They have low prices and quick shipping.
