I wouldn't worry about that. He learned all he knows from his dad's shop. Some myths move around the audio industry and I personnaly have never blown a system by jumping one. Had a cousin that would leave his uber system running all day and I would have to jump him to get him home

Great High's and an acceptable low end. You can get some great low end compared to the stock speakers but no where near a good sub can do. If you have been listening to stock this whole time, then I will go so far as to say you will be pleasantly surprised in them.

If you decide to replace the speakers in your dash with a set of 4x6's then remember that you may have to grind down the back end of the grills as they will sit high. I found this out after installing them and luckily had a grinding wheel to get them to fit flat on the dash. I suppose just about all 4x6's will do this if they are coaxial.

Those speakers you put in the door and the dash can handle what ever the AC/Delco head unit throws at them. I also find that the 4x6 dash speakers in conjunction with the 6.5's made a good front soundstage in the blazer as a whole. I rarely have to fade it at all.

if you think xplodes have great highs, what do you think of the highs of a high quality speakers such as focal, or scanspeak, or morel?

I don't think anything of them as I have never heard them. I'm sure they would work great but he wanted an easy replacement and I felt my experience and advice would help.

Compared to stock, the highs do sound great.

If he wanted sound quality, I would not have tried so hard to help as my experience is lacking in regards to the upper tier car audio market.

I always have been one to get a cheaper item if it fulfills the needs well and the Xplodes did that for me. I recommended them for ease of installation and good retail brick store price.

That said, those speakers are the only thing Sony did right for the price. Their subs/amps/and head units are pretty awful IMO.
