Where is the best place to ground a subwoofer amp ina 96 4door blazer?

 

The best place to ground any high current device is where there is sufficient metal to keep up with the current flow, typically the frame of the vehicle. If it's a low powered amp, it's not as critical and anyplace that keeps the ground wire as short as possible will typically be fine. You don't need to drill a hole for the wire to go through the sheet metal either to get to the frame. You can drill a small hole in the sheet metal for a bolt, ground to that inside the vehicle, then outside/underneath run a ground wire from the bolt to the frame.

The MOST important thing to remember is to be sure that the spot where you make any ground connection is as clean as possible of paint, dirt, oils, etc. Also be sure to coat the ground point with a dielectric grease, paint, or anything to keep it from rusting and/or corroding.

I grounded mine on the bolt from the back seats, does its job. I grinded the paint off to get a solid connection metal on metal. i suggest just put it somewhere where it won't get kicked or pulled. Or just add a second battery

 

I hooked up a system in my 96 not to long ago. My amp is behind my back seats, so I just removed the bolts holding the seat down, and ran my ground wire under the seat. It's hidden too. good luck!

 

I used the seat bolt too. Just keep in mind that my amp only has ~35w RMS

 

idk if yours has it but i have a 99 and in the back there is 4 triangle holder things (idk what there called) but i just took one of those off and sanded around the hole and put my ring terminal on that, then put the whole thing back on top of it. I got it running to 1700w amp and i havent had any problems with it.

 

whether you ground your amp to the chassis or the frame doesnt really differ. i have my amp ground to the triangle hook bolts like 99bblazer99 describes. what really matters is whichever you decide chassis or frame make sure your big 3 upgrade also runs a good neg from battery to chassis or frame and also the engine block needs to be ground to either the chassis or frame. and these blazers have small altenators so i strongly suggest the big 3 upgrade

Anyway mine is on the seat bolt aswell. Thought about those triangles but the seat one was a little more probably for mine.
