around how many amps do most amplifiers use?

anywhere from 5 amps, to 200 +

yeah its true. there isn't an average or anything like that. it all depends on the output power and how much the amplifier is going to draw. obviously more power out the more current it will draw. but not always true with low name amplifiers.
