Who cares how far away you can hear them? if you're just in it to get attention from people then you really have the wrong idea on what car audio is all about.

Around here its about being loud. There's kids I know with 15 Power Horns piled up in Tahoes and such. The louder you are, the better. Haha. SQ really isn't important to 17 and 18 year olds.. We like being loud and turning heads.

You apparently like being loud and giving car audio a WORSE name than it already has. All you 17 and 18 yr olds will grow up someday to realize this and the fact that how it sounds is far more important than how FAR away you can hear it. I have a total of 400 watts rms running two sets of 6.5" component sets and it gets loud enough to hurt people's ears which is more than loud enough.

We're not going to change your mind so here's some food for thought. At least put a seperate amp on those Triton mids and give the tweeters their own amp as well. At least this way you can make some adjustment to the levels and such to help with the sound. Aside from that, match the RMS power of each of the speakers as closely as possible and TRY TRY TRY not to run it into distortion all the time. Doing all this will yield decent enough results sound wise, get much louder without distortion not running a single amp into oblivion, and with all the power on tap the dynamic peaks shouldn't present too much trouble with distortion which will help keep everything from blowing up the first week.

One last note, I feel sorry for your neighbors and your ears. You and your friends have alot to learn yet, but learning is half the fun, so build on.

just because it's a high qts sub doesn't mean it can't be ran in a ported box, yes, fi says not to but I've seen lots of people run high qts drivers in ported boxes with better result than a sealed box

I agree with loud is not better....

I have passed that phase, and can honestly say that my home stereo setup has evolved to be an example of that...

I had an older 70's technic receiver running at 8ohms...(ohmmmm...lol) and pushing something like 13 jerry rigged speakers and a sub box from my car.... it would rattle the walls.... and then evolved into my current Logitechs, which are loud as bawls when turned up, but I swear on my blazer, I have never turned them up past 70%.....

And while we are on the topic, I actually was talking to this with my boss, and his words were, "Oh, thats just a pissing contest" which made me giggle like a girl... because think about it, you can be the loudest **** on the planet and it wont get you much...

Now before I get flamed and (you suck!!!) thrown at me, I understand that its what YOU want and that people are entitled to different opinions, but I agree with mr allcustom... although I would almost wanna add that speaker location can also change the tune quite a bit.... I hate hearing the music behind me in a car.... also, I like the tight subs that hit and you feel them all around, not booming in the truck....

Idk... I just ranted randomly....

I want my system to play this well....

I dont have neighbors Haha.

But I see the point you guys are trying to make. But us young kids dont like to listen [: Haha.

So 3 amps total? 1 for the Hifonics, 1 for the fronts and tweeters, and one for the subs.

Could you guys tell me how many watts the amp for the tritons should be and how many watts the one for the fronts and tweeters should be?

I personally like it loud with good sq, however I rarely (1-2 times a month, If that) have it turned over half of the full volume. And I also try to turn it down when I come up to a stoplight, Because I know how annoying it can be to other drivers when you don't. Learn to respect others, there is a proper time to be loud, and a time to not.

I would find amps that are well over the RMS of the speakers because of the simple fact that lower (cheap) line amps will not put out rated power. but wanting it "loud", I'm assuming you will treat the gain **** like a volume **** and end up blowing the speakers anyway.
