Thanks for the info Monkey. I really don't know much about the CB aspect of things. I haven't researched it much. Thanks for the tips though, it's good to know my plan may not work lol. I like the idea of mounting it on the spare tire carrier though. I'll probably end up doing that whenever I get myself a CB. As for blazerguy, he doesn't have a tire carrier so thatwon't work for him.
As for the magnetic attachments...my dad used to have some walkie talkies we used when out scouting. he would attach a large antenna to the van at the camp to boost range on the radios. We always used a towel to protect the paint and never had much of an issue with it scratching. They are BAD for scratching though, so if you do go with a magnetic one be sure to try and avoid it by use of a towel underneath. If you think about it the magnet is just catching all the dust and dirt in between it and the paint, so it's bound to cause some serious damage over time. Especially if you being it out on the trail.

Yeah, that might cause a problem. It does take away a bit of the magnet power when you use a towel. Well why not just put in on your back seat, crack one of the triangle windows and stick the antenna out the top of the window

you can get a little l bracket that screws to your fender and sticks up between the hood and fender. you mount everything there. run a 4' fiberglass whip mounted to a flexible base. stick that on you l braket on the d side away from your radio antenna and rock and roll.

also this seems like a lot of work to avoid speed traps.... you could always just stay with traffic. find someone going 80-85 and drop in behind them. Not working? drop in behind the next guy to pass you. keep going until you find a comfortable cruising speed radar/lidar zaps what its pointed at. that means you put some chump between you and it and skate by.

i made a mount and bolted it to the roof rack of my '95. and ran 2 wires from the bolts to a body ground. really wasn't that hard to do lol. with the Wilson 2000 Trucker antenna and Cobra 29 NW/WX and a 1 to 1 match I get great reception. here''s a pic of my mount so you get an idea:

Dude. I'm in the Army. I know about radio chatter

As for attempting to pull over a group of cars. GOOD F-ing luck. just drive past the first fool to stop. Unless there is a bunch of cruisers with johnny radar, your only worry would be that the cop gets lost in the mix and singles you out of the group. if you are dumb enough to pull over as a group then you deserve the ticket (not directed at YOU directed at anyone the gets group got)

I like this idea too. It looks really sharp and would be very easy to do. Nice work!
