ive been looking at a few component systems, and about every one i look at has tweeters that are too tall for the dash holes..how have you guys remedied this?

okay thanks. and is it ok to buy a couple component subs for the doors, and just some coax's for the back, using the stock tweets?

 

after market tweets can be obtained rather cheap so you might as well get em in while your ripping in all apart instead of waithing for things to blow. if the stock tweets are attached to a head unit - go for it. if an amp is involved then i would rather say to upgrade the tweets. but i have used coax speakers with tweets before for great sound, but i have multiple amps involved as well. a active crossover is an amazing thing when tuning your sound system.

you are better off replacing the stock tweets along with the stock 6.5". The problem with replacing them seperately is that the stock tweeter has to be crossed over somehow. Some just use a small capacitor to filter out ht elow frequencies, but others use something else. You risk the chance of blowing up both the stock tweeter and aftermarket driver in the door if not installed properly. If you feel confident you absolutely know what you are doing, then go for it!

 

im not that confident yet haha. i just recently bought this car (02 xtreme) and wanted a simple way to get some nice sound out of it, now im in high school so im not looking for competition quality sound or anything like that.

i want to keep the stock head, because i have steering wheel controls, so i have been looking at a sound processor like this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_236REQ5/MTX-re-Q5.html to help the sound quality, with this processor there seems to be rca jacks for the front, back, and a sub on the processor itself, so if anybody has any experience with these, some help on where/how to get this hooked up would be awesome.

after that, i had planned on running an amp for the sub, and if anybody has any guidance on that as to where/how i should set this up, id appreciate it.
