Custom Sub Box

I can imagine why you couldn't drive with how much those probably hit lol. Thank you all for helping confirm what we hoped would work, now we just have to get to work. Maybe a build thread project.

Yea its loud lol. Its just for shows and competitions though he doesn't drive it all the time. I havent seen it out this year yet but ill see if I have a picture of it on my phone and post it.
Now that I am getting this thread off topic, I am interested in seeing how this box comes out. I have been planning on redoing my system and maybe building a new box.

me too except I'm the opposite of you guys. I'm trying to go for a smaller sealed box i don't really like my ported box

Mines not ported and it hits hard, I just want a remote gain control cause sometimes I dont want all that bass. But I need a new amp for that and I figured If I am gonna drop money on a decent amp I might as well redo the whole system.

Ok well in an update to this thread I thought I would post up some pictures of the box being built. I forgot to take them until it was being put together, but I figured this was better than nothing. We changed the size of the box from mentioned earlier and made it just a little larger. It was now 37.75 wide, 14 tall, and 16 deep. This gave it a total volume of 3.285^ft. with the port and tuned to 33.***.
The box before the port was finished.
With the port installed.
And put in the Blazer. It's not finished however as the Top hasn't been secured but we're waiting for the sub to come in the mail by Wed so we can make the cut for it's install and seal everything up nice.

Just a quick question. Did you calculate enclosure volume without sub displacement and port displacement? Often times, the T/S parameters of the sub have it. If not, Google may be able to help find it. Basically if you have a 3cu.ft. box and the sub displaces .5 cu.ft., then the box becomes 2.5 cu.ft. Make sense? Also port displacement. WinISD is a decent program to use and has a nice variety of sub drivers pre-loaded. Also, check out Fi, DD and Audioque subs... for the money, they can shake a few screws loose lol.

I used this to calculate the dimensions of the box. No it does not take out for the sub displacement, but it does seem to take for the port. I did try using BassBox 6 Pro, however it didn't have the woofers preloaded in it that we were using. The only reason we went for the Type R was cause it was on sale for $109.99 since the new models are coming out, not really looking for a bank busting godly sound system lol. I've never had any experience with any of the brands mentioned or where to buy them at good prices. However I have read good things about several of them.

For that price, I would have jumped on a couple myself lol. Anyway, try the WinISD program, it's free and seems to work really well and lets you play with the box design and shows you what effect it has (roll-off, tuning, etc.). Well get to work on that install so we can see a video of that thing in action lol.

Ok, so sorry for the long delay between posts. The first sub arrived damaged thanks to my friendly neighborhood UPS driver. Crutchfield however was very helpful and sent out a new sub right away. So now I have the sub mounted and sealed everything all nice. However thanks to the delay my friend who wanted all this to begin with is out of town on vacation. So I figured I would post a couple pics of the sub when it arrived and it mounted.
