i was wondering about how to tune a n speaker box i have an ported box that i made to spec of my 2 12 and was wondering how do i tune it so that the would hit harder

The tuning is in the port size/shape... if you built it "to spec" theres nothing more you can do other than constucting a new enclosure.

you can always add blocks to the inside of the enclosure to reduce the volume. Chucks of 2x4 dry wall screwed inside is a great temporary test.

This generally brings the tuning frequency up, so try to oversize a box when you build it because you can always make it smaller.


Another quick fix is to just block your port and see how it responds to being a sealed enclosure

Generally a ported enclosure is much larger than its sealed counterpart, so sealing a ported box up will make it sound really bad. If you want to test the size, use a phone book or something similar. 2x2 strips wok great if you want a permenant setup... they will increase the strength of the enclosure too.

i think the easier way to do this is to build another box but let be bigger so i could get the port tuned the way want it thanks guys
