Power Acoustik PD-710 Single Din Multimedia Unit w/Detachable 7" LCD Touch Screen: Auto Electronics : Walmart.com

I have a 95 jimmy and i have read the thread about the DD install, but then ran across this and was just curious. I know its a cheap unit so wouldnt expect much quality, but what about fitment? Thanks im new to the forum but so far this place has been awesome.

That's not a true double din. That's just a single din with a detaceable face, so that should work just fine.

I know all too well about and completely understand having a tight budget, but you're going to regret buying that.

When it comes to HU's they're all quite similar, but there's a reason why that Power Acoustik costs $170 when reputable brands like JVC, Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion, etc. cost more. That Power Acoustik unit is noisy and adds noticeable distortion to what it plays back. If you could listen to it side by side with a reputable unit you would notice the difference, especially if you plan on running any external amps with it.

One like this CLARION is a superior unit and the extra money will be better spent.

That's just my .02

And what yall's opinion on Jensen? I just installed a Jensen VX3518 single din flip out dvd player that I only paid 200 for that's working quite nice. A lot better than the cheap boss unit I had to start with anyway. Lol

everything I ever heard/used by Jensen absolutely sucked. I would sooner listen to silence.

Mine sounds pretty decent. Especially since the boss hu I had didn't have an equalizer and only 2v preouts, and my Jensen has an 8 band eq and 4v preouts .

Unfortunately I have a gen 1 1987 S10 Blazer and I think I would need to do major dash modification surgery to do a double din and mine is just too mint to mess up the dash.

I got real lucky finding my Blazer, it is almost like Brand new. I just got it recently, only 62K original garage kept one (senior citizen) owner survivor miles. Original paint. The interior looks like it was not even sat in and under the hood looks like it is still on the showroom floor. Tahoe package, 4X4, 2 tone blue. There is a small crease on the pass front wheel opening molding area and the power door locks need to be worked on. Too bad it has the 2.8 weak V6.

I replaced the crackly old speakers and when I put in the replacement 4 ohm ones in, the factory 10 ohm stereo sounds like poop (its too over driven) so I will end up putting in an aftermarket stereo that will fit a single din opening (they make a kit for gen 1 that uses a single din chassis).
