Default Downfiring box and sound quality?

So ive been wasting alot of money on MDF latley, just playing with different enclosure sizes and shapes. I came across a downfiring box with a false floor from someone on here... and I wonder what the sound would be like? My instict tells me it would sound like a bandpass or isobaric setup because of the floor, but I really have no idea. Anyone heard a downfiring system? I have a single kappa perfect 12" if that makes a difference. Oh and it would be sealed.

I think it might soak up a little more bass.....possibly having the same effect of a trunk setup...?

thats just a thought....im sure it would still sound just fine.

I plan on downfiring my 2, 1st gen. Type R 12s with rear firing slot ports. I think this will be the best option to protect the subs since I use the back of the Blazer quite often. 3" off the floor should be enough. This setup may yeild about -3db, but I'm into SQ not SPL
