Default Factory BOSE system... PLEASE Help

i know there is a thread for this but the answers dont fit me. my system is in a 2000 bravada... same as a jimmy i guess. amp is in bottom of center console, under the cd changer. my problem is the same as the other bose thread; all speakers went out, except for the front door woofers. it had all worked fantastic until just going out. i like the system and the sound was great for my taste. i have gotten TO the amp, just cant figure how to get it out without using a sawzall or jaws of life! i almost took a crow bar to it! i like the steering controls and the head unit is in perfect condition. i can find a bose amp to swap.. just need to know how to get this one out! its cheaper too than an entire new system. if i were to get that 4 channel conversion unit from crutchfield, what does that bypass? will i lose my steering controls? if i bypass the amp, i then not only need a new amp, but speakers too....

thanks
j

I have no idea, but posting it or asking for a Moderator to relocate this thread to Lighting & Electrical - Blazer Forum - Chevy Blazer Forums may help.

I'm almost positive removing the amp and replacing it with the same stock amp, or a conversion kit from crutchfield wouldnt hurt your steering controls in any way. The steering controls run from the steering wheel modules directly to the back of the radio. Only way you could lose the steering wheel controls is if you swapped out the stock radio for an aftermarket that didnt come with the wires to reconnect the wheel controls. IF you just change the amp, you wont have issues with the steering wheel controls.

thanks guys thus far.... at least i know if i opt for another amp; speakers then have to go too... i get to keep steering controls... but still stuck on figuring how to even get the oem amp out to swap for another oem. it has 2 multi wire plugs and one of them, the larger of the 2 is a [email protected]$ch to get/wiggle out while its mounted. if any of you pros have figured out how to get one of these out without damage to the surroundings, i greatly appreciate that. whilst i tried to do that, i just could not find a way to do that without a darn sawzall.... the amps 2 plugs-what are they each for; one i presume is strictly for speakers... the other, power for amp----and? i only ask that if i have no alternative other than to switch to another brand amp. i dont have a wire diagram/pin out for this amp. switching amps still seems a bit of a nitemare and also costs me a good deal more since i have to get ALL new speakers and that entails a good deal more work and possible dash damage that i would really rather avoid. so, with all that weighing in, i think the oem-oem swap seems my best, simplest and least costly option. all i need then is the know how to get the amp out.

thanks

Did you decide on replacing the front door woofers? If so, how much do you want for the front door woofers? PM me or EMail: adrenalinejunkie87 @ hotmail com Thanks

Glad everything is working out for ya'. There's a guy that can get the set for $20 from a local junkyard. Maybe I will try looking at my local junkyard before anything.
