01 Trailblazer Non-bose to bose
First off, glad to say there is a forum for blazers. I just purchased a 2001 Trailblazer for a steal of a deal, but it doesn't have the bose system in it. I want to convert to the bose system. I was wondering what I need, other then the headunit itself, and what is required. Thanks
EDIT: I have onstar also.

Is there a specific reason for going to the Bose system. Personally i think aftermarket sounds a lot better than the Bose and if the Bose is in there sometimes its a little harder to adapt with aftermarket products.
This is really just a winter vehicle, so I want something a little better but not anything great. If I can piece together the Bose system for less then a hundred, thats my best option.
The problem with a factory Bose system is the wiring. The Bose system does not rely on the headunit for amplification, but rather has a separate amp for that purpose. The wiring is part of the main interior body harness and would be a real PAIN to swap out of a Bose equiped truck and install in yours. You would literally need to have the two trucks side by side to get everything swapped over...
this is true. a headunit for about $100 bucks would do the trick. it would make it sound a hundred times better than the Bose system would. Try these headunits
