need power and plug in car antena into it, and lead into radio. if you still have a factory radio, will need to also buy an antenna adapter, like metra 40-GM10

my guess is that you have something up with your wiring. the correct thing to do in the long run is check all the wiring . but you can buy a noise blocker. try crutchfield.com

why is that only the aftermarket radio does this? I plug in my alpine deck and it then starts of course only when the engine is running.

so even though the am reception is perfect /w both the factory and aftermarket alpine /w the engine off and terrible only /w the alpine /w and the engine on, a antenna booster will help this?

yes, you are picking up interference through your electrical system.
