Help with sub wiring!
I have looked around and cant find an answer to a question I have.
My blazer came with a nice kenwood excelon head unit installed. I know the shop that did the install so it should be pretty professional,
anyways the previous owner had subs wired up. The wires are still run to the back (power/ground/rca's/etc) where they are just sitting behind the backseat. The wires are also still hooked up to the battery but he had pulled the inline fuse out.
So my question is do I need to unhook the wires for the subs from the back of the head unit or will this not affect sound since there is not anything hooked to the wires? I just figured the head unit was sending all the low or bass signals to the subs and no longer to the door speakers and I would need to unhook them to get proper sound.
any help?

Im almost positive that it will not affect the sound at all

NVANZEE is right, it shouldnt affect it at all.You can also check the head unit to see if it has any setting relating to the subs or bass if you are not getting the proper sound as you mentioned. I know my Pioneer unit has an option to turn subs on or off and other setting for the base, etc.

it wont affect ur sound but i highly suggest taping them off if the wire is exposed

ok well i will look through my settings on the head unit and then im going to tape up the wires and hide them behind the seat, They are hide and run well so Ill just keep them in there in case I come across a deal on some subs.

cover the ends of the exposed wires with some silicone lub or dielectric grease to prevent any corrosion from setting in.

I would also look through the headunits settings to make sure there isnt a HPF taking the low end sounds away from your door speakers, otherwise tape up the ends and your good!

When i bought my blazer, there were also wires run for subs that were no longer in. When i pulled my head unit out i found that they had pluged the rcas into the back slot instead of the sub output. This may also be what is causing your problem.
