Default Installing DVD receiver for 1st time. Any advice?

Just got a used one of these in the mail today

Click ME

Just wanted to hear from guys or pro installers who have done this a few times that could tell me anything I should know about installing a dvd receiver in general and/or this specific receiver. I can pretty much install a CD player with my eyes closed and looking at the parts here this doesn't look all that difficult to doexcept maybe another hour or two mounting and routing more wires.

EDIT: Okay I now have a few more questions.
1. I see there is a wire to hook to the parking brake so DVD operation is enabled only when the brake is set. Where is the parking brake switch that I need to wire to on the 98 Blazer (4dr 4x4)?

2. Do I HAVE to wire this wire to the switch in order for the player itself to work? Honestly, I didn't buy this thing to watch DVDs in my Blazer. I have other plans so if I can save a little time by not bothering with this, it would be nice.

3.There is a power cord for the hideaway box and the receiver. Can I wire the yellow battery, red accessory, and black ground wires to the same places (specifically the wiring harness for the power wires)? Or do the hideaway power wires need to go to different areas?

fixed your long link for ya - hillbilly

nice unit. very nice. the 5.1 surround is a little goofy to set-up and get working perfectly though.

1. To install the unit the correct way, as in the manual, you will connect to the white wire at the top of the brake pedal. there is a plug there.

2. if you do not hook up the brake wire, the dvd portion only will not work, if you dont care, forget it.

3. for the hideaway box, if the wires are long enough, zip time them up behind your glove box. for the wires, just hook it up like a standard cd player.

thats it bro. piece of cake!

Thank you very much for the help hillbillyinOhio and for fixing the long link. This is quite a nice receiver. Display features could be a little better, but I don't really mind that.

However, it turns out that I need that wire installed cuz it won't let me access the important sound menu I need to turn on the sub output (I have no bass right now, ). Where exactly is this brake wire that I need? I tried the white one I saw above the brake pedal as well as a white wire above the parking brake pedal and both didn't work.

Yeah I got it hooked up to, well, one of the brake wires (I will use the sound setting menu as an example feature that gets locked out). Its weird cuz with the Blazer in Park as well as when i'm driving I can access the menu. When I use the brakes when driving, it locks out. Weird. Isaw two white wires at the switch when I hooked it up so maybe I should have used the other one, but whatever. Igotmy bass back and that's what's important.
