Hello. My older brother used to have a 94 ford probe, (he bought it used) and it had a kill switch, where, in order to start it, there was a little button that you would have to push. Anybody know anything about this? Thanks. I don't want a full blown security system, just a kill switch maybe.
EDIT i found a good wiring diagram on the12volt.com. I think if i do it i'll just do a toggle switch for the ignition wire that i can turn on and off when i want. How heavy-duty a switch would i need?

If you are wanting to put a switch in, I would recommend at least a switch with a rating of 30 amps or more. I personally would recommend just buying an alarm, as they will typically save you some money off your insurance. Additionally, they are a much safer solution to your situation.
Hope this helps!

I wouldn't worry about it unless you owned a CLS 55 AMG or something

All 99 and newer have built-in immobilizers. On the dash you have a light that displays the word 'security' I believe. Not trying to be disrespectful but that means it's better than any switch you can add to the vehicle.
The best thing you can do is add an aftermarket alarm on top of that immobilizer and you're set.

How is the immobilizer activated?

It's passive as soon as you turn the vehicle off. The key needs to fit in the cylinder at which point it activates a trigger/mechanism in the ignition tumbler. Vehicle will run but only with your working keys.
