Default No Factory Dash Speakers.

Hi, I have a 96 S10 Blazer. I have installed 4 Pioneer speakers on all four doors, but when I took out the dash speaker grills, there was only a black piece of cardboard held down by two screws. I don't know why it does not have any speakers there because my brother has the same exact truck that I do, only his is a 2000 and it came with factory 4x6's. Also, would I still be able to run wires to install some speakers there? When I checked, there weren't even any wires. If anyone knows, please tell me.

you can put speakers in that location. In my 97 I only have factory tweeters, just watch the OHM load and you will be fine.

I had the same thing in my '99, I cut a hole in the black cardboard to mount tweeters, it was really easy to drop speaker wire from there to the crossover.
