The 7200 is a nice deck but its not the best in the Pioneers lineup. not trying to fight you but i'm just saying. the best is the DEX-P99RS for everything possible but i'll be installing a 2 year old DEH-P880PRS later this summer for the control you get over everything, time delay speakers right to left, front to rear, complete control over your music and its a nice simple faceplate.

I swear by Pioneer decks but JL subs and amps...

I will say that pioneer does stand the test of time. When I got my BMW from my cousin it had a 10 year old cd player in it. The only reason I swapped a new deck in was because the 1995 pioneer wouldn't play burned cd's and cd's with colored bottoms on them. Other than that it worked perfectly. Still have it out in the building I think...

$1300+ for a headunit? It better have auto set on the highs by which I mean Neil Barber comes out of the cd player to set the EQ. Joking but MTop is detailed when it comes to car audio. He knows every model in every brand, even the ones not out in America that he saw on a weekend trip to Japan. lol

speaking of high price audio, I'm still waiting on my MTX Jackhammer...

The new pioneer is out in the states now and would be amazing to have for any high end system. i'm extremely happy with my DEH-P590ib and will be putting that in my girlfriends grand am once i get my "new" one.

and screwed, fly me to Japan anyday if that means seeing the newest of the new audio products.

and.... if you have some connections, you can get the DEX installed for ONLY $950 hahahaha... never would i spend on a radio unless i was making well over 500k a year

Hey guys,
I'm not interested in a huge system, but I want to install a new head unit and possibly new front speakers. My stock speakers are cracked and my stock unit cuts in and out randomly. I know its not the antenna because it does it with CD's/Tapes too. What do you guys recommend for speakers? I've never dived into this aspect of cars before so its completely a gray area to me.

I figure you just want some speakers that will run off the headunit. Seems like people love Pioneer and JL. To me is your gonna run speakers off the headunit and not an external amplifier than just about any name brand will workout. I've heard name brands like pioneer to so so brands like visonik and crap brands like soundstorm. If you have never heard of the brand and it's cheap as hell, 9-10 don't get it.

I figure my twin (MTopper) will drop in soon and call me stoopid and reccomend some brands for you. I lean towards the lower brands like Lanzar and Audiopipe. But that's just me and alot of people don't care for them. I will say however that 3 way speakers and a new headunit will make the sounds in your vehicle like night and day. My door speakers are the factory ones from 92 and with the headunit I put in they sound pretty darn good, so I'm looking foreward to what some new ones will sound like.

I put a set of 4 way Visonik speakers in the front doors of a ZR2 blazer, and with a cheapo JVC headunit, it sounded a whole heep of alot better than I thought it would!

Cool. Thanks for the tips.

I'm looking at these two:
http://www.amazon.com/Dual-XHD6425-B...6235834&sr=8-2

or

http://www.overstock.com/Electronics...3/product.html

The JVC is used, and I can probably get a good deal from a friend on it. The dual looks like its packed full of features. Any opinions?

IMO, JVC. i installed a similar one in my buddies monte carlo and it gives him some pretty good control over his speakers and sub. but thats me.

As Screwed said, anything that is a name brand you can recognize will give you good speakers. His JL comment is directed at me haha, i have the simple Pioneer 6.5inch 2 way drop ins right now in my doors and they sound hell of a lot better than the stock ones did... i also blew up my stocks to justify to my mom me putting new speakers in when i was still 17 haha.

but really, almost any speaker is better than stock. i've heard some vehicles with sony speakers that sound pretty good and at $20 a pair, you could replace all 3 sets and HU for about $200... not bad for some simple ideas

Awesome guys. I really appreciate the advice. I see a lot of folks on here say that the dash speakers are hard to replace... but the trucks stock is just a little tweeter type speaker. Is that the norm to replace or do you get a 4" speaker to drop in there?
I'm pretty sure the doors are 6x9's. I imagine there's enough room for any type of speaker comparable to whats in there now. At first I just wanted to change the dash speakers, but if that's a tweeter then I guess the door speakers will go too.
