Default Is this an ok place for RCA's?

If you can't tell from the pics, I am routing the RCA's in one of the dips in the cargo area, so it won't be sticking out.

Then there is also about half inch of that carpet stuff (don't know the name) Then the actual carpet.

Will this be ok, or should I add more protection to the RCA's?

Daily driver around 1-2 miles in town, never transporting anything other than sub box which remains in same place.

Also, where you see the RCA's end, I have made a slit in the carpet in the corner where everything will go out to the amp.

first picture is there the amp is going.

Yes that should be good. What is that on the side in the bottom pic? Is that where your planning on grounding the amp?

The kicker dual 4awg ground block?

Yes, that's where I have the ground.

Is that bad? Because I had everything hooked up before I did any cutting and it worked fine...I think...

I did notice a SLIGHT under-powering of the subs but that could have been from something else...I did hit the rca outs on the head unit together with my fingers and heard some crackling.

It hits pretty hard still. Nothing noticeable. Maybe 1-5 points on the volume **** (has 62 total)

updated pics

Im not positive one this but it seems like you would be able to get a better ground if you attach it where there is a bolt. Like the cargo hooks on the floor, set belt or a seat bolt. Instead of the thin sheet metal.

Yea, and I also wouldn't cover it like that. They do get warm, and electronics don't like being warm.

When I worked at a stereo shop we always grounded to the thickest part of the vehicle we could, like the seatbelt mounts and things like that. So ever since I have always done the same thing, it just makes more since to get the strongest ground you can.

yeah thats what i thought. Grounding it to the sheet metal would be like using 16ga wire for the ground.

I don't seem to have any problems.

How would I ground the amp on a bolt anyway? I'm guessing a big ring terminal? Do they make different sized holes for 4awg? How about with a set screw so I can re-use it and also because I sometimes have bad luck trying to clamp splices or metal ring terminals that rely on metal flaps to hold the wire in place.

Is there a good way to teat the ground levels of a bolt vs the sheet metal?

Is this something I should even care about if the subs hit hard without going into protection mode or anything and I'm only pushing 2x250w end?
