Default question about in dash dvd players.

Ok, so i've been looking around on Crutchfield and eBay and im really starting to like in dash dvd players. There is just one problem. I have a '96 S10 Blazer, and i have noticed that the shifter (automatic) gets in the way in my truck. Unlike on the newer blazers, the shifter is a little closer to the radio. Do you think i would have any problems installing one? Because Crutchfield says that i would have 2 do a custom install, but i wouldn't wanna cut or mess around with any of my trucks interior. If any of you guys know about or have seen the interior of a '96 Blazer, let me know if you think an in dash dvd player would fit, or what you think i should do.

Mine has the console shifter. That is why i think it would get in the way of an in-dash dvd player.

I think you should be set bro. Go out to your truck and put the shifter to the point where it sticks over the most. And just look to see if its in the way. Also if u can take a pic of the amount of space you ahve but I think You'll be good

Alright, I'll take a good look at it again. I can't get any pics up, cause right now i don't have a camera. But i was just doubtful because i didn't wanna waste that much money only to find out it didn't fit. Cause on Crutchfield, it says that it would be a Modified fit.

Ok, but what years were they? I just took a good look at it again, and i am still doubtful. My brother has a 2000 Chevy Blazer, and the dash is totally different from mine. He could definitely fit one because the shifter is nowhere near the radio. I thought to myself, that the only way it would work, is if i put the shifter on 1, or 2 so that the screen can move well.

all right, lets put this to bed. THe pictures you just showed are for a column shifter, and there will be a slight fitment issue, the clearance will be about half an inch, not the best in my opinion, but will work. THe console shifter or commonly referred to as flor shifter will work with no issues at all. Thanks for confusing me as to which one you have, lol, but either way you will be ok, just be careful with the column shifter

Ok, so i really want an in-dash DVD player. I just looked at a few 7 inch dvd players yesterday, and i really want one. Like i said, im still scared that it won't work, and i don't have $400 or $500 to be wastin for nothing. My shifter is the column shifter (i finally got it straight, lol). I still believe that damn shifter will get in the way of a 7" flip monitor. If there is anyone with a 95-97 blazer that has done it, let me know if it works.
