If you think I should have a better sub, maybe you should buy me one. When almost all of my money pays for college, I'll take what I can get.
+1... I had to make due with a profile "BAJA" sub that was given to me for free. I used that thing until my junior year in college... now I have a kappa perfect... mmmmmmm, tasty!!!!! I have to admit that as long as I kept the gains down on the BAJA sub it sounded pretty decent. So keep on rocking that shiz man, once you get some more cash flow you can buy whatever you want!

Very nice box. Did you cut a bow-tie out of wood and glue it on top? I like that look alot! My dad has alot of woodworking equipment and I think I might try something like that when I have the time...

I have learned something about subs. It does not matter which subs you get, its how you set them up. You say those are crappy subs from Walmart, yet my walmart has a Pioneer and Sony subwoofer setup on the display. They are on a Kenwood Amp, and they ROCK the entire store. So if they didnt get loud for you[Tippman]maybe you should have rewired your SUV and gotten a better amp. You can't just buy an amp and stick any ol' speakers on it. If the RMS was not rated enough for the Pioneer subs, then the amp wasn't puttin out enough power to really move those subs. My neighbor has Visioniks. I think those are just ugly looking paper cone sub rejects. He had them wired right, on a perfect amp. They blew me away, and it was just a 10. So don't go down playing subs, cuz I am sure, if a pro took that walmart sub, he can blow the windows of a blazer.

Also IMO I would have made a custom chrome bowtie to go on the box, but it looks good the way it is. Maybe in the future get it fiberglassed and paint it. That'll be NICE! So don't sweat it dude. I had "Walmart" subs too. I had a 1300W box wit 2 10's from Dual on a 740W Pionner 2/1 channel sub. They were loud enough for a 89 Legend coupe. Now I have 2 Kicker Comps C12 from a friend. I don't know thier wattage, gotta find out, and my neighbor just gave me a Pyle box for them. Nice ports and everything. Now I just need amp and wiring.

You've got the right idea, just little bit off. The driver itself is quite important when building up a sub stage. The properties of the subwoofers determine what you can really do with your sound. Also, as amplifiers and fequency tuning are very key elements, enclosures are really where the focus needs to be. You can throw a $500 subwoofer into a $40 prefabricated box and it will sound god awful. But, on the other hand, you can throw a $40 Wal-Mart subwoofer in an enclosure built to the specs of the woofer designed around the drivers listening perference and create a sound that rivals that of a lot of higher priced novice installs...

Thankyou. The bowtie was actually a piece of 1/4" MDF...Usually I use 1/4"High DensityFoam but lately ive been noticing the foam smash down over time and look sloppy...

And guys, quit getting on him about the sub. He got it for free, did the right thing and got a custom enclosure, and he is happy with the sound. Theres nothing wrong with that at all...

I have all pioneer speakers in my blazer and plan on getting a pionner sub system in back with pioneer amps. I have been running pioneers (with the exception of the pheonix gold subs that I got for a steal of 35 bucks each), I have always liked pioneer. I really like the bowtie emblem on the top, alot. Gives me an idea when I build mine. (writes it down) lol

A freind of mine is very good with car stereo wiring. He had a 2000 watt sysytem ( if I remember right) in his 89 camaro. It sounded awesome. A guy I worked with bought 2 10' pioneers and a pionner amp for his car. They sounded really good the way he wired them, buyt then my freind stepped in and changed some of the wiring around and they kicked a**. I think I remember something about bridging or something. Anyone can do anything as long as you put your mind to it.
