Edit: The Infinity Reference are on sale now. Also decent speakers?

I heard from someone else that the Alpines are pretty decent too. Also my budget was aimed that way because the rears of the same speaker typically cost more.

Would I be best to go with some 2-way speakers? I could go with the Kenwood 3-ways for the sake of going all Kenwood. Also, should I look into changing out the 4x6 dash tweeters too? I hear that can be a real pain though.

Could also check out the Clarions at the other audio shop. I'll wait for a nice sale too. Damn I'm hopeless at audio lol.
Ya, the infinity reference are good speakers. They are pretty popular.

I like infinity products, infinity came stock in my 03 tibby gt and for a stock system before I replaced them, they sounded pretty good.

So I finally bought some 6.5"s today. The MTX Thunders were on sale again for $90, and the only ones they had were open box special ones (box was opened, nothing was taken out of the plastic packaging). I got them at sale price with additional 2 year warranty.

They are a simple 2-way speaker. 6 1/2" with 2-1/16" depth. I'm hoping they will just drop right in, and I'll be good to go.

Next I think I'll get some new 4x6 dash tweeters then the back ones.

Nice, definitely let me have some feedback on how you like them when you get 'em hooked up. I'm going to upgrade my stereo within the next couple months.

glad you asked for advice and then listened to it (sarcasm). We told you how to spend your money to its maximum and you refused to listen. hope you like wasting your money. I know I enjoyed wasting my time giving you advice.

I got motivated tonight and installed them. They sound great! Definitely a much cleaner sounds. I was playing some of the songs that really test the highs and lows, and they sound much better. They are even louder than the stock ones on the same settings. I think once I get my equalizer set right they will sound even better. I can definitely tell the difference between them and the tweeters.

The only advice you gave was to spend my money up front, which is exactly what I'm doing. I got the door speakers and I'm going for the tweeters next over the rears.

Oktain said MTX would be the best buy unless I wanted to spend $250 on a set of Infinity components, which I didn't want to spend that much money, and I didn't want to mess with components. I also got a killer deal on the speakers with additional warranty.

Not sure what your problem is.

Oh man! Whole paragraph typed out then the power went out!

Anyways. MTX are good bassy speakers but don't try to get too much bass out of them. go with 4x6 in the front. Tweeters will just make the highs unbearable. Thats a summary cuz I don't feel like typing it all out again.

Haha yup some 4x6's were what I was thinking. Got some decent JL's for an alright price at a local audio shop that I'll probably get when I get paid next.

I'm not going to push my speakers too much. I like slower paced rock and not at a deafening volume. Just looking for a nice clean sound!
