Hi, first time poster here and I have a few questions about my recent sound system upgrade. I'm pretty new to this whole thing, but before now I installed an infinity basslink powered sub in the rear with no problems.
However, for Christmas I got an Infinity Reference 7541a amp (111W RMSx4) and 4 Sony Xplod XS-GTX1640 (75W RMS). I finally got around to installing the amp, and it sounded alright (I hadn't put in the speakers yet), but then out of the blue one day my car wouldn't start. I assumed it was the amp; after I jumped my car it would run, so I unhooked the amp from power and then I have had no problems. It seems like the amp is draining power from the battery when it isn't even on, even though it is properly connected to the remote. Either that, or the amplifier takes too much power and my battery can't start my car and the amplifier at the same time. Do you guys have any ideas for this?
Also, when I installed one of my new speakers, I tried to test it and it wouldn't work (no sound at all). All my speakers are connected at the head unit, not directly to the speakers. This is strange to me, because all of my original speakers would work. Do you guys have any ideas about this? My speakers did work when I tested it directly to the amplifier, so I know that it isn't a problem with the speaker itself.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

what kinda car is this? is it factory amplified? take a test light and see if when your car is off, the amp still is drawing power. do you have an aftermarket deck? when did you get your remote wire from?
how did you test your speakers?
"All my speakers are connected at the head unit, not directly to the speakers" - im not sure what you mean by that.
a little more info is needed. trying to figure out problems with limited info is though

It's a 1996 Blazer 4dr with an Alpine CDM9823 headunit. I installed the reference 7541a amp, so it's getting power from that at the moment. I used the remote wire for the headunit and connected it to the remote terminal on the amp.
Based on the fact that there is no power light on on the amp itself, I assume that it isn't getting any power. I'll test that in the morning, though.
I meant that I cut wires from the harness at the headunit and put quick disconnects on all of them, ran wire from the amp and connected all the speakers up there instead of running wire individually to the doors.
I took my car to the shop today and they told me it was the throttle positioning sensor and I got that replaced; also, I had to get a new battery. Hopefully some of my problems can be solved, but I just don't want this to happen again.

If it DOES start happening again, get your alternator checked. A new battery doesn't mean jack when your alternator won't charge it.
