Stereo Wiring and Install Parts

This is a great thread. Thanks. I have some observations and personal experiences to share and a question or two. I am working on a 2001 4X4 blazer. It has the dark geen power wire arrangement. Prior to discovering this forum I had attempted to figure out the wiring by pulling the door panels and looking at the wire colors. I have no sound comming from the rear speakers. All this did was completely confuse me. The left and right speakers in the rear doors have the same color wires. Has anyone seen a wiring diagram for this system? Are the rear doors wired in series or parallel? First I would like to get all 6 speakers working. I have not checked the resistance/ OHMs of the speakers but am going to. I have to decide if it would be better to wire the front tweeters and front door speakers in series of parallel. Since the tweeters seem louder than the door speaker I am thinking series is the way to go. Oh, one other thing, Did they really have to pop-rivet the speaker housings into the doors??? (just venting)

i have a 99 trailblazer 4 door with the 4.3L. i am installing a aftermarket pioneer deck, the stock stereo harness clip has been cut off so i need to know what wires from the truck go to what wires on the deck. i am more than frustrated with myself for cutting the harness clip off before i realized they had an adapter for me. please help this has been nothing but a huge head ache. i bought an adapter but i wen i cut the harness connector off i cut too close to the connector and now i cant reconnect the old wires back to it.

Single/double DIN?
Great thread!
I have a 1994 full size. The dash layout is spread out where the factory tuner is to the right of the wheel and the equalizer is to the right of that, approximately the center of the dash- two places for one radio... My question is I'd like to go with a single DIN unit with GPS, satellite and such from Eclipse. Where can I mount this??
Thanks in advance.

Preparing to install a JVC double din stereo today. Did a quick search to see what I'm in for and found this PDF on stereo installation. Thought someone would find it helpful; http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/GM/PDF/460001.pdf I also have 6 new Volfenhaag speakers to install, but don't know if I'll get to those. I'll take pictures of the install to help those not as experienced with speaker/stereo installation.
Off to the store to get quick connects.

Hey guys I'm wiring up a new radio for my 2002 Blazer. The Metra wiring harness says "Due to the fact that a switched 12-volt accessory lead does NOT exist in the factory harness, an accessory source must be located. Do NOT use the 2003's 12-volt accessory wire for these vehicles."
A). The harness came w/ an extra red wire for me to connect to something...what should I connect it to.
B). Why can't I just connect my harness power and radio power together?

Your aftermarket deck needs a constant (time display) and a switched (turn on when keys on). If you wire them together, either, you have a radio on ALL the time, or only comes on when the vehicle on (no time save or radio presets)
You must tap into a switched source. I used my ignition on my old car but I don't suggest that. Anything goes wrong then no start. Someone will chime in with a answer as to where else, cuz right now I'm tired and really can't think lol.

If I were you, I'd get component speakers. They are easy to install and sound 5,000,000 percent better. So yes.

Check and recheck wiring. Maybe you mixed a solid and striped wire.
