Sub and amp combo
ok thanks guys i will see if i cant get everything to swing my way with this equipment. Two final questions. 1. Would i need a specific size wire/wire kit to install this? 2. This sounds like alot of power, would I need to get like a bigger alternator or something along those lines?
No, you should be ok. If your pushing more then 800 watts, it's a good idea to get a cap especially if your lights dim as you turn up the volume. Consult a professional about how to properly install/charge a cap if you plan on getting one. And be sure to get the proper gauge wire. If you get a brand new amp, the manual should have a diagram on what gauge for what wattage to use. If not then check this site out. http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/WireGuide.asp Good luck and if you don't know, ask, because there are alot of mistakes that you can make in car audio.
caps are a bandaid for a bullet wound. If you know anything about electronics and do the math, you will see that in most cases, a cap is actually hurting your charging system more than it is helping. If your headlights are dimming and you add a cap, that places more of a strain on your battery which in turn strains your alternator even more.
If you never plan on adding another amp to your truck, just get a high quality 8ga wire kit. If you do plan on adding another amp to your truck, a high quality 4ga kit will work. Id recommend a kit from JL, knuconcepts, scosche, or kicker. Do NOT get your kit from walmart. Those wiring kits are actually smaller than what they really say they are.

i just put a 200 watt vr3 amp a 10 inch jensen sub and a explode deck im my 99 2 dr blazer and it sounds great!
I didnt want any rattle, but i did want to hear the bass in my music and thats what i got. i spent no more that 100 bucks for my whole system i bought the amp thats was used for 2 days for 40$ the sub and box for 30 and the deck was free i had the wiring. The other interior speakers are stock but that is a little more of a project.

Yeah, i went the cheap route in my camaro and it was loud boomy annoying even at a moderate volume. I had a JBL12in,JBL amp and a pioneer deck with a rockford fosgate 8awg wiring kit. Im looking for better sound quality this go around.
