Default Sub box port material?

Ok, so im building a custom sub box for my 12" kicker and i want to port it but my question is what do i use for the ports. I need 4 2" round ports about 10"s long. Also if anyone else has built a custom box i would love to see pics and what you used for ports.

why so many ports? but Pbc pipe works the best for the price. Dont forget to caulk the entire thing when your done.

ok, my second question would be does the size diameter of the port make a difference on the sound? And im doing 4 ports just because i like the look of it. And also where can i find the flares?

Port size depends upon the tuning of the box, and it's size. There are plenty of calulators online that you can use to determine port size and length. Adding ports just for looks is a no no.

based on what you just asked, I can tell you have no idea how ports work. dont be scared, we all have to start somewhere. the size (length and diameter) of a port determines exactly what frequency your enclosure is tuned to. read up on the section about ports at the following link before starting your build...

Also, port flares can be purchased here...

Ya this would be my first box that im building and i have no idea of how the ports work other than it makes it to where you can tune the box based on diameter and length. But does the amount of ports make a difference? I've been using http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 to figure out the port issue and rockford fosgates box wizard for the dimensions and design of the box. Any and all advise on box building and ports is welcomed. As for the heres the sites good luck, I dont get much from it unless its made for dummies. I like personal experiences over the this is how its supposed to work.

Honestly if you build the box to the right specs, I dont think that a port is needed, but thats just my personal preference from my experience with subs.
